Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

Jim Lynch joins me again. He has just published his latest book: Before the Wind. It’s an engaging book set in the Pacific Northwest that presents a family coming to terms with themselves and each other, as well as life itself in and around the water. Sailing is their heritage, and we meet the Johannssens, a family that has built and sailed boats around Seattle, up here in Canada, as well as in Olympia, where Josh, one of the sons, who narrates this book lives. I’ll get Mr. Lynch to tell us about these characters, and his own experience, and of that what informs this story. Jim Lynch is the author of three previous novels, The Highest Tide, Truth Like the Sun, and Border Songs, which he was last on this program with in 2009. The website for more is at www.jimlynchbooks.com [2]. This new book is published by Bond Street Books, which is an imprint of Doubleday. Please welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, in Toronto today, Jim Lynch; Mr. Lynch, good morning.
