A post-election chat with political commentator and consultant Adam Daifallah is had by Joseph Planta, looking at how Justin Trudeau won last night’s election, what Stephen Harper’s legacy is, what happened to Thomas Mulcair and the NDP, the future of the Conservative Party, and what next under a Liberal government.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

Last night, the Liberal Party of Canada won the general election, and Justin Trudeau is to become the next prime minister of Canada. Adam Daifallah joins me now as we look at what happened in the country. How did Trudeau win? Why did the country vote Liberal in surprising numbers? What is Stephen Harper’s legacy as he leaves the office of prime minister? What happened to the NDP and Thomas Mulcair? What might we expect in the next four years? We’ll tackle some of these questions now. Adam Daifallah is partner at the strategic communications and government relations consulting firm HATLEY Strategy Advisors. He is also chair of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation’s board. He is an instructor at McGill’s department of North American Studies, and a frequent commentator on political matters on various media outlets. The websites for more are www.hatleystrategies.com, and www.daifallah.com. Please welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, in Montreal today, Adam Daifallah; Mr. Daifallah, good morning.
