The contribution and accomplishments of women in music in the 19th century has largely been overlooked, if not ignored. A new novel takes us into the world of music. The novel, A Woman of Note features Isabette Grüber, a pianist who wants to compose her own music. She encounters a number of creative women, who existed, and who play a part in this book. I’ll get the book’s author, Carol Cram to tell us about her book, the characters, and just what life was like for women. Carol Cram’s first novel The Towers of Tuscany was published last year. This new book, A Woman of Note, is the second of a trilogy on women in the arts. The website for more is at www.carolcram.com [2]. There are events in and around Vancouver. On 04 November 2015 at the Vancouver Public Library’s Central Branch, the book will be launched here. And Sunday, 08 November 2015, there’s an event at the Cates Hill Chapel on Bowen Island.
