Veena Sood

The acclaimed actress Veena Sood reflects on her career and receiving the Union of British Columbia Performers Sam Payne Award for her work, with Joseph Planta.

Veena Sood joins me now. The acclaimed and prolific performer is the recipient of the Union of British Columbia Performers Sam Payne Award for 2014. We’ll talk about her work and career now, as well as what this award means for her. It’s a unique and special arts community here in Vancouver, and one can only imagine what it’s like to work and be honoured by the performers here. Veena Sood was born in Kenya, and was schooled in England and Calgary, where she co-founded and developed the Loose Moose Theatre Company there. She has over 100 acting credits, in theatre, film, and television. She’s a noted teacher of improve throughout Metro Vancouver, and was instrumental in the development of the Vancouver Theatresports League. She’s the recipient of a Jessie Award, as well as a Leo Award. The website for more is at www.veenasood.com [1]. The Sam Payne Award is given to the performer whose personal attributes mirror those of Mr. Payne, who died over 33 years ago.
