Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

Joining me this morning is Bob Plecas, the well-known pundit, former bureaucrat, and now the author of a new book, Bill Bennett: A Mandarin’s View. It is an eyewitness account of the man who was premier of the province of British Columbia from 1975 to 1986, Bill Bennett, who is largely forgotten today, but of significant consequence historically, whose legacy is seen in such tangibles as the Coquihalla Highway, BC Place Stadium, SkyTrain, and the Port of Prince Rupert.

Bob Plecas spent more than twenty years in the BC provincial government as a career civil servant, serving under six premiers, and twenty-five ministers in ten portfolios. The book, Bill Bennett: A Mandarin’s View is published by Douglas & McIntyre and retails for $22.95. It is a welcome addition to the far too small library of books about British Columbia and its politics. Please welcome to Planta: On the Line, Bob Plecas; Good morning, Mr. Plecas.
