Andrea Woo

The Globe and Mail multimedia reporter Andrea Woo discusses her work as a reporter, journalism, and more, with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

The Globe and Mail’s Andrea Woo joins me now. We’ll discuss her work in the BC bureau of Canada’s largest circulation national newspaper, as well as current affairs, stuff that you see reported in the paper and online carrying her byline. It’s a name we’ve read in the Vancouver Sun, where she was at from 2009 to 2012, when she left to join the Globe and Mail. Prior to that she was at Metro. She was a music journalist as well, appearing in Exclaim!, Pound, the Georgia Straight, the Seattle Stranger, and The Source. It’ll be interesting to get her take on the news, and her work, and the place that newspapers have in our culture today. And perhaps we’ll find out why she chose journalism as her line of work. Andrea Woo is a two-time recipient of the Jack Webster Award, among many other honours. The website for more is at www.andreawoo.com [1]. The Twitter handle is @andreawoo [2]. Please welcome to the Planta: On the Line program, in studio as it were, Andrea Woo; Ms. Woo, good morning.
