Ian King

The former journalist Ian King discusses the media, politics in Vancouver and British Columbia, and the oil and gas business, the field in which he works now, with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

He hasn’t appeared on the program in about six years. He first appeared nine years ago when he was a columnist at the now-defunct alt-weekly Terminal City, which he eventually edited. He went on to report for 24 Hours. And then left the media. But he didn’t become any less observant of the political scene, even when moving up to Fort Saint John. Ian King joins me again. You can follow him on Twitter; @IanKing [1] is the handle, as well as on Facebook. He’s in Vancouver today, and while in town, I thought it would be ideal to get his views on politics and more, as we talked about all those years ago. We’ll catch up too on the media and how he sees it, and I’m curious to know what life is like up north. Please welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, in studio today, Ian King; Mr. King, good morning.
