Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

Last year, Charlie Demers wrote Theatre Replacement’s An East Van Panto, which was a production of Jack & the Beanstalk set in East Vancouver. The team of Mr. Demers, the writer, Veda Hille, its composer and musical director, and Amiel Gladstone, the director, are back for Cinderella: An East Van Panto, set on Fraser Street. Charlie Demers joins me now, and we’ll talk about this new production and more. I’ll get him to tell us what a ‘panto’ is. It’s a show for all ages, and knowing the team behind it, it’ll be a riot, and entertaining. The show stars Josh Drebit, James Long, Dawn Petten, Donna Soares, and Allan Zinyk, with Bailey Soleil Creed, Olivia Ann Hutt, and Alexandra Wever. Cinderella: An East Van Panto runs from 03-28 December 2014 at the York Theatre on Commercial Drive. It’s a great venue. Visit www.tickets.thecultch.com to buy tickets. Charles Demers is an author, comedian, playwright, and new dad. He teaches at the University of British Columbia’s Creative Writing Department, and you can hear him from time to time on CBC Radio’s The Debaters. You can follow him on Twitter: @charliedemers is his handle. Please welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, Charlie Demers; Mr. Demers, good morning.
