Rafe Mair

Rafe Mair, the writer, broadcaster, and former cabinet minister, talks to Joseph Planta about recent health challenges, current events in British Columbia, the environment, and broadcasting in Vancouver.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

It’s 10th Anniversary week here on the program and what better way to kick things off than to have Rafe Mair as my first guest of the 11th year. The writer, broadcaster, former cabinet minister, lawyer, has been my most frequent guest, but more than that, he’s been a hero, an example, and a kind one at that. We’ll catch up with Rafe now. It hasn’t been an all-too pleasant year, and we’ll get an update on that front, as well as whatever thoughts Rafe might have on politics in British Columbia. A highly recommended book to go out and buy is Rafe’s most recent, Radio Daze: 25 Years of Winning Awards and Getting Fired in Canadian Radio. There are a lot of great stories in there, and it’s just a great read. It’s published by Promontory Press. The website for more is at www.rafeonline.com [1]. And you can read him on The Tyee’s website. Please welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, Rafe Mair; Mr. Mair, good morning.
