Margaret Heffernan joins me again. The acclaimed and bestselling author has a new book out, A Bigger Prize: How We Can Do Better Than Competition. Like her last book, Willful Blindness, which she was on with three years ago, this new one is a really engaging book on how competition has pervaded our lives, our economy and more, and how it isn’t at all as productive. Not to mention that it produces inequality and corruption in some instances. In the book, there is fascinating research, and thoughtful anecdotes that illustrate how engrained competition is, and how we might get away from it and have a more collaborative approach. I’ll get Ms. Heffernan to tell us about her book, and what’s in it. She is an entrepreneur and chief executive. She was born in Texas, raised in Holland and educated at Cambridge. She produced programs at the BBC before returning to the United States to run multimedia companies. She writes for the Huffington Post, CBSMoneywatch, and Inc.com.
