Dean Paul Gibson

The prolific stage director and actor Dean Paul Gibson previews his latest directorial offering at the Arts Club Theatre (running until 29 June 2014), Monty Python’s Spamalot, with Joseph Planta.

Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

I am Planta: On the Line, in Vancouver, at TheCommentary.ca.

Dean Paul Gibson joins me again. The prolific stage director and actor has been busy at work directing the Arts Club Theatre Company’s latest: Monty Python’s Spamalot. It opens Wednesday night, and has been running in previews already. Lovingly ripped off from the movie, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the musical has had a long life following its debut ten years ago. It ran on Broadway for nearly four years, winning three Tony Awards, including best musical. I’ll ask Mr. Gibson about this show, about the folks that are in it, and what this show will have for Monty Python aficionados, or first-timers. I suspect a lot of people will see the show and recognise the universal influence Monty Python has had on our culture and our humour. Dean Paul Gibson is a distinguished director of theatrical productions with Bard on the Beach, and the Arts Club Theatre, as well as other theatre companies across the country. Spamalot runs at the Stanley Industrial Alliance Stage until 29 June 2014. Visit www.artsclub.com [1] for tickets and information. Please welcome back to the Planta: On the Line program, Dean Paul Gibson; Mr. Gibson, good morning.
