Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

It’s a real pleasure to welcome my next guest here on THECOMMENTARY.CA. He’s flamboyant, colourful, and his is nearly a Horatio Alger-like story. In fact, when they made a movie on his life, it starred Stephen Baldwin. He is Bo Dietl, One Tough Cop, one of the most highly decorated detectives in the history of the New York City Police Department. Among his successful arrests and convictions include what Mayor Ed Koch called the “most vicious crime in New York City,” the brutal rape and mutilation of a nun in East Harlem, and the ‘Palm Sunday Massacre,’ the fatal murder of eight children and two adults, reported to be the “most heinous homicide in New York.” He retired from the force in March 1985 at the age of 35 to found Beau Dietl and Associates, one of the largest investigation and security firms in the United States advising many notable corporations, celebrities, and foreign dignitaries. And you also might know him from his weekly appearances on Imus in the Morning. He’s on the line this morning to talk about his new book Business Lunchatations: How an Everyday Guy Became One of America’s Most Powerful CEO’s . . . and How You Can, Too!, $28.00 CDN ($19.95 USD), published by Chamberlain Bros., an imprint of Penguin. Please welcome to THECOMMENTARY.CA, Bo Dietl; Good morning, Mr. Dietl.
