Text of introduction by Joseph Planta:

Fresh from her campaign advocating for Wayne Gretzky as ‘The Greatest Canadian,’ from Edmonton, I’m joined on the line by Deborah Grey.

When she won a by-election in 1989, she made history by becoming the first ever Reform Party Member of Parliament representing Beaver River in Alberta. Fifteen years later and three more elections she left active political life the MP for Edmonton North. A Reform Party stalwart (her membership number was 000002), she was instrumental in the founding of both the Canadian Alliance, and the Conservative parties of Canada. As well, she is remembered as one of the House of Commons’s more colourful and tenacious members. Never Retreat, Never Explain, Never Apologize: My Life, My Politics is the title of her new book, $29.95 CDN, published by Key Porter Books.
