Joining me now is the former editor-in-chief of the Toronto Star, and the founding editor of the weekly newsmagazine Maclean’s, Peter C. Newman.
The journey from fleeing Nazism for Canada, to conquering journalism’s highest echelons, along the way becoming the nation’s pre-eminent chronicler of its history, politics, and establishment, is a story of a life that’s engrossing, dramatic, as well as often entertaining. He is honest about himself, and often brutally.
In 75 years of mischief and misdemeanours, he has had four wives (and “God knows what else”), seven honorary degrees, known nine prime ministers, and written 22 books, that have sold over two million copies.
